What a great Sangiovese by one of my favorite Italian wine producers and unlike most of there wines it is priced under $20! La Spinetta is mainly known for producing wines out of the Piedmont region of Italy , but back in 2003 they acquired some Tuscan vineyards where they now produce Sangiovese and a small amount of Colorino. This Sangiovese is typical of what you would expect out of a La Spinetta wine, it possesses a ton of personality. This medium to full bodied Sangiovese has an intense ruby color with aromas of ripe berries, plum and coffee. The palate is well rounded with ripe red and dark fruit flavors, a good amount of oak, sweet tannins and nice acidity. This wine would go great with grilled meats and pasta.
